I understood that to be the insignia of the LLStR but looking on the WW2 Day by Day site I see that it depends upon how many points there are on the tail, three is LLStR and two is 7. Flieger-Div.

The problem is, you can't see the tail in detail. And the Luftlande-Sturm-Regimenter had a shield + the falling star as "Truppenkennzeichen". :?

Marcus, Looking at them again the first one could be avariant of the devil of StuG Brig. 209, it isn't exactly right though.

Too else.I think it between 26 iune-15 august 1941. Belorussia or the district near Smolensk.....

Marcus, Isn't that insignia on the galcis of a Panther ? If I remember correctly the tank's chassis number is visible too and that might help identify the unit.

I got answer through email: I. Abteilung/Fallschirm-Panzer-Rgt. "Hermann Göring", a tank belonging to Dr. Karl Rossman.

Vadim, The X was the insignia of 5. Panzer-Division while the two lines below it were the tacttical sign for a Kolonne but they would normally have another marking with them to indicate what the Kolonne belonged to.
