243. Infantry Division (Germany)

#1

Post by djodjonap » 20 Feb 2013, 19:22

Does anyone know the names of the battalions Kommandeure of the Grenadier Rgt forming the 243. I.D in Normandy, June 1944, that is:
920. (2 Bn), 921. (3 Bn) and 922.(3Bn) Gren. Rgt
Or at least for the 921. Rgt?
I saw somewhere in a German account that on 6 June, one Bn of an unknown Gren. Rgt was attached to the 91.LL Div, and this Bn was commanded by Hauptmann WILD. Who has more details to share?
Thank you very much

Hello Torsten,
Thanks a lot. The German data concerning the D-Day and post landing days are very rare and often confused. I am working on a 921. Grenadier who died in Normandy, but I encounter a lot of difficulties. For instance, there is no complete ordre of battle for the 243. I.D in Normandy.
Regards
