I am looking for the list of soldiers of the Panzer-Abwehr-Abteilung 545 of the Wehrmacht, which fought in the Battle of the Bzura in September 1939, and occupied the central Polish city of Zgierz, near Lodz.
This anti-tank battalion was created on August 26, 1939 in Nuremberg: see http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... Abt545.htm
Any information you may provide will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks, Christoph. If such lists do not exist, how could the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) have compared a list of several hundred names that I had given it with the names of the soldiers of the first company of this battalion and find some names on my list that had served in that company? Thanks again, Avner

Hello,
Because the Wast has the personal files which
Survived the war and can of course tell if a individual
Soldier has this unit entry im his file.

I don’t know what is the WASt budget and if resources are computerized, but from Information Technology point of view it is a trivial database search to list names belonged to a unit in a specified time frame. Even with millions of records it should take minutes if not seconds for an average server to come up with.
I suspect these kind of searches are forbidden by the privacy laws and overall bureaucracy, but that’s another subject...

The Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) had been dissolved and all its files and documents are now in the German federal archive (Bundesarchiv). They are being digitized and should be available online in 2024.
