4. E SS "Westland"

#1

Post by PatrickBateman » 09 Mar 2017, 23:06

Hi,

According to the WASt a relative of mine fought with the 4.E SS "Westland" (is that the 4. Kompanie / 4th company?) Recently, I bought the book "Panzer Grenadiere der Panzerdivision "Wiking" im Bild" (great book!) with many photos of Westland, including a few (group)photos of the men of 4. Kompanie Westland. Sadly I couldn't spot my relative on one of them.

My question. Does anyone have (group)photos or any other interesting information about the 4. Kompanie of SS Westland between 1940-1942? Is there also any other photobook like the "Wiking im Bild" about the Westland?

Kind regards.

Your relative was with the 4kp Ersatz Bataillon Westland which is different from the 4/SS-Rgt.Westland

Indeed the 4.E.Westland was a training and replacement unit (in Klagenfurt). After the training in Klagenfurt your relative could have been transferred to e.g. Regiment Westland, Regiment Germania etcetera.

Thanks, both.

No wonder I couldn't spot him on group photos of the 4. Kompanie. If I remember correctly there was absolutely nothing about the 4kp Ersatz Bataillon in the "Panzer Grenadiere der Panzerdivision "Wiking" im Bild" book, unfortunately.

Do you people know more information about the 4kp Ersatz Bataillon? Any books or websites?

Without his name and birthdate we can not search in our info if we have something on him.

Any information about Flemisch in German service (Waffen SS, OT, NSKK, Kriegsmarine, DRK, ...) during WWII is welcome.

I searched on Google on the book j keenan mentioned "Dictionnaire de la Waffen-SS: Tome 4". I saw a preview photo of a page from the book, this one; https://picclick.ca/Book-Dictionnaire-d ... id=1&pid=7

Believe it or not, a man on the right page looks a lot like my relative. Could someone who owns the book, if you want, make a photo/scan of that page so I can see better if that's in fact my relative. Please send a message/PM.

How could I know that that picture shows men from a Totenkopf Regiment? And how could I change the fact that a man on that photo looks like my relative, almost a 95% look a like.

I already informed Wim and BramvanS with his personal info by PM. I don't like throwing around his name on every page of this forum. And further I can only say that it is a real pity for me if those are photos of a Totenkopf Regiment. I finally thought I might have found new photos of him.

You don't have to believe me, I don't care. I'm just looking for new photos of my fallen relative.
