Gentlemen,

Right now I'm thinking of perhaps mostly 7,5 cm towed guns.

Sincerely,

Hello!

Certainly 5cm Pak 38, 7,5cm Pak 40, StuG IV, 2cm Flak 38, Marder and most likely a few 7,5cm Pak 37/98 and 4,5cm Pak (r).

According to Lexikon der Wehrmacht this was a Rheingold Division formed in February 1942 and according to Nafziger when formed the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 389 had a Flak company, Marder company and a towed Pak 40 company, I can't tell you what type of Marder they had. When the Division was reformed after its destruction in Stalingrad the battalion had the same make up. So it might well be that the battalion only ever had Marders of whatever type and towed Pak 40's along with the Flak guns.

Gentlemen,

Well Panzerjäger-Abteilung 389 can't beat a large scale attack of enemy tanks with these Marders and Pak 40 anti-tank guns along with the Flak guns. I know that 389. Infanterie-Division was in France in 1944 along with Panzerjäger-Abteilung 389. What battles that the division and Panzerjäger-Abteilung 389 fought? Must have suffered heavy losses in men and guns.

Sincerely

Gentlemen,
What is the role of a Panzerjäger-Abteilung commander within an infantry division do? He doesn't command anti-tank armored fighting vehicles and rides in one. He doesn't command a company of anti-tank guns or anti-aircraft guns. He must have some kind of contact within the companies. I will admit this is a silly question.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

PJA 389 fought on the East Front from 1942 to the end of the war with only a brief stint in France to reform after the division was destroyed in Stalingrad.

Are you thinking over another division/anti-tank battalion?

For what guns and vehicles used, it'll depend on which time period you are looking at.
