Hi I need info on the attack direction of elements of 4th Panzer Army in the Kotelnikovo area Aug 1-2 1942.
The town is split in half by the Aksay river. Did the Germans attack the south part of the city by pushing north? Did they attack the north part of the city from the east or west? Also did the germans hold neighboring Kotelnikovsky at this time? or was the attack on Kotelnikovo a flanking maneuver to cut off Kotelnikovsky?
I am researching for a PC game. So I just need a basic understanding of the situation these days, which I think I have the dates correct - the Germans captured Kotelnikovo on the 2nd.
thanks for any intel

Re: Kotelnikovo - Aug 1-2 1942
Town called Kotelnikovo (also on some old Soviet maps called Kotelnikovsky) is/was south of the Kurmoyarsky Aksay river. The town is split in half by the Aksay river
There is/was a small village called Kotelnikov east of Kotelnikovo and this one seems to be located on both sides of the Kurmoyarsky Aksay river.
I haven't seen German primary reports, but according to Soviet 51Army maps, attack on Kotelnikovo came from W (road from Mayorovskiy), SW (along the railroad from Remontnaja) and S (road from Nagolnyy). Attack from the W seemed to cut off town from the N in order to capture road and railroad bridges over Kurmoyarsky Aksay, N of town.
Divisional histories for 29.ID(mot) and 14.PzD might have more details.
