"Funkernetz" - building one?

#1

Post by stoveb » 21 Jul 2017, 11:05

Hi,

I recently came across a statement in a veteran's accounts about the need to build a 'Funkernetz' for a new unit. Presumably this is a radio network for a particular unit.

Can anyone tell me what this normally involved in building a Funkernetz, was it a long process?

Thanks for any pointers here.

Cheers
Steve

Hello,

I guess he means a "Funknetz" which is no long task. It requires the definition of the "stations" - e.g. Gefechtsstand Inf.Rgt.1 - Divisionsgefechtsstand etc... the radio "codes" for them - e.g. "Gefechtsstand Inf.Rgt.1 = Falke" - and orders which unit has to report to which higher level unit.
Usually a task of a few hours.

Hi Christoph,

Thanks very much for that. That was what I was thinking - that it wasn't a major process.

The veteran stayed in the location for a month, but this was also when the unit changed from being motorised to an armoured unit. I suspect that this upgrade would have been more involved than just the 'Funkernetz'.

Thanks
Steve

Hello,

Here the example of a very simple Funknetzplan.
