German soldier weapon
How many Luger or Walther P38 magazines carried German soldiers or officers?
Re: German soldier weapon
Two, normally, one in the weapon and one in a pouch sewn to the outside of the holster. This gave them 16 rounds, a few more rounds per pistol were carried in the ammunition column (in an infantry company).
In the US Army, soldiers issued with a M1911A1 pistol normally carried a pouch with two spare magazines, giving them 21 rounds in all, but such separate pouches were generally not used by German soldiers in WWII AFAIK, although they did exist.

Many Heer and Waffen SS men carried FN 9 mm pistols with 13 round mags. They were known in the supply chain as Pistole 640B (the B for Belgium where the FN factories were). This is the same gun as the famous Browning Hi-Power but it wasn't imported into the US as a Browning until the late 1950s.
I have to laugh when I see the FN 9mms advertised at gun shows or on the gun selling websites as having German proof marks. To a certain ind of collector they may be desirable, but anyone who knows anything about the history of Fabrique Nationale knows the wartime 9mm made under German occupation were the worst ever made, because the workers were sabotaging them with inferior faulty parts.
Best regards.

Bill, Didn't the WaA controlled the factories?
So if there were inferior or faulty parts these would/could have been encountered?
