Kama Armor School [Panzerschule Kama] students
Hello,
Is there a list of the German officers that attended the courses of this school (Panzerschule Kama) between its creation in 1929 and its closing in 1933?
Thank you.

I don't remember where I read that, but I believe that Ewald von Kleist attended the course in the Panzerschule Kama. Is this a comprehensive and exhaustive list?

Re: Kama Armor School [Panzerschule Kama] students
These are clearly courses for junior officers who were intended to form the nucleus of the Panzerwaffe.
von Kleist was already an Oberstleutnant and chief of staff of 2 Kav.Div at the start of 1929. He was appointed chief of staff of 3 Div from 01.07.1929 and promoted to Oberst on 01.10.1939. Already an experienced cavalry officer it was decided to broaden his experience by appointing him to command IR 9 effective from 01.02.1931 and as such he went to attend a course for senior infantry officers at the Infanterie Schule between 06.10.1931 and 23.10.1931.
There is no mention of him attending the Panzerschule in his Personalakte and I find it difficult to find a reason for him to be selected to attend a junior officers course for future Panzerwaffe officers when his next commands would be 2. Kav.Div. and VIII. AK.
Equally interesting is the fact that looking at the "Generalskartei" for some of those attendees that reached the rank of General (Goerig, Kraeber, Koll, Linnarz, Thomale} that they are all listed as "ausgeschieden" during the period of the course.
There is no such break of service listed in the Dienstlaufbahn for von Kleist

Re: Kama Armor School [Panzerschule Kama] students
John,
Thank you for your explanation, which is chrystal clear. Do you know whether senior officers were although sent in Kama? Mackensen for example?
I'm pretty sure I read that at least one of those who ultimately became a field marshall during the war attended the course. But it could have been a hoax or a mistake, honest or not.
Thanks again!

Re: Kama Armor School [Panzerschule Kama] students
As far as I am aware the courses held in Kasan wereH used to train junior officers and engineers and that those officers that were trained there were then used to train the emerging Panzertuppe back in Germany. [Taken from Nehring "Die Gechichte der deutschen Panzerwaffe]
Difficult to see why field grade officers [Major to Oberst] would attend - the German Stationsleiter was Major Ritter von Radlmaier from 1929 to 1931 and then Major Harpe until 1933.
Again difficult to see why von Mackensen would attend as he went on a cavalry course between 30.09.1930 and a Lehrg.f.Fhr.StabsOffz between 10.11.1930 and 29.11.1930, both more appropriate for his job at 1. Kav.Div.
Maybe Harpe is the future senior officer mentioned?

John,
that's clear, it should have been a mistake or a misunderstanding.
