I am wondering if any one can provide the detailed advance route for 30. ID from May 10-17, 1940. I am looking to find what towns they advanced through and what canal crossing points they used.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello battleofassche :D: just a little.......................................

March road of the 30. ID May 1940.

Staging area: between Kaldenkirchen and Bracht IR 6 (Reinf); between Bracht and Brüggen the IR 46 (Reinf).

May 10, 1940: 05:35 hours without combat the vanguards of IR 6 and IR 46 got across the road Belfeld - Reuven - Swalmen and proceeded to the Meuse. The Meuse was reached along the sector Belfeld and Riekel (Rijkel??). At 10:00 hours the III./ IR 46 got across southwest of Riekel and the II./ IR 6 pushed by Hout towards Kessel. The main effort with the IR 46 pushing against the Nederweert-Kanal. At 14:40 hours Gruppe Borgmann reached the Nederweert-Kanal by Millert (15 km west of the Meuse) and found the rail and road bridges destroyed. By evening they got across and established a bridgehead.

Meanwhile the Aufkl. Abt. 1 (Mot) under Maj. Graessler crossed on the Corps' bridge at Tegelen and followed the IR 6, coming from Roggel into the bridgehead. By mid-night was ready a second bridge between Steyl and Bardoo.

May 11, 1940. when the next day dawned the cyclists of Gruppe Borgmann were along the shore of the Zuid-Willems-Kanal.
