Post by john999 » 04 Jul 2018, 09:27

Hi all! I'm looking for info about armament of Panzerjäger-Abteilung 33 with 15. Panzer-Division in Africa and later with 15. Panzergrenadier-Division in Italy!
Thankyou very much! :)

Sure David. How was equipped each company of the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 33? I mean, did they have stugs, self propelled guns, at guns?
Because i'm studying a soldbuch of a soldier who fought in Africa and Italy with 1./Panzerjäger-Abteilung 33
Thankyou!

Here's what I've got on North Africa in the first 18 months or so.

Arrives in Tripoli @ 01/04/41. With 1st, 2nd & 3rd Kompanies. 11x 50mm PaK, 6x L/mg Each.

Reinforced; 6x 7.62Cm(r.) @ 10/03/42. 6x Marder III after 16/04/42 (prob July) 9x 50mm PaK @ 01/05/42. 15x Marder III, 3x PzIB @ 01/09/42.

3rd Kompanie departs 14/08/42 to form 190th PzJag Abt.

I hope that little bit helps as a starter.

Kind Regards,
David.

Is it possible that the 15. PzGrenDiv in Sizily didn´t have the PzJgAbt 33 at hand? I can´t find it in the lists fir Sicily but for Italy.

Hmmm... In September I have them with staff, signals section, 3 coys with 6x 50mm PAK and 6x lMG each, as well as a platoon of sPzB42 and additional 10x sPzB42

Fully motorised.

Hi Urmel.

Was the September in your last post of 1941?

One possible explanation for the reduction of each company to a single platoon of Pak 38's might be that the battalion also provided guns to protect Rommel's HQ, although I can't give you a date for the start of that.

I doubt it would have been that early.
