Panzerjäger-Abteilung 263, which armoured vehicles?

#1

Post by Joda » 02 Apr 2019, 17:32

I'm looking for info about Pz.Jg.Abt. 263 during the first months of Operation Barbarossa, from June to Dez.1941, and during the following years

Was the unit equipped with armored Panzerjäger vehicles already in 1941?

Thanks in advance

It would have had towed 37mm and 50mm Pak, Infantry Divisions at that time didn't have armoured vehicles in their Pz Jgr Abt.

Joda, it would help if you told us where you have searched already.

For information try here: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... -Abteilung 263
and here: http://www.sturmpanzer.com/Default.aspx ... em=3&sec=0 (under 'Miscellaneous OKH Documents')

This second link has documents which provide information on the theoretical/authorized strength, which I seems to be just towed guns until the arrival of some StuGs (per the first link) in 1943. If you want to find more details you might want to look at Korps and Armee records which should hold information on the actual strength of the battalion.

The division itself is covered by a number of microfilm rolls: T315 R1835-1838. The first two of those should be digitized somewhere.

Good luck
