Kampfgruppe Bieg

#1

Post by ckj23 » 08 Apr 2019, 17:45

Hi, I am looking for information on the (first) Kampfgruppe (Major Karl) Bieg.

Formed probably around 20 september 1944 in the middle of Holland with some remnants of the 331. Infanterie-Division (?) and reinforcements from the Atlantikwall (Batallion Vock). The Kampfgruppe was under his command until 28 october 1944 when Oberst Dewald took over. Bieg probably stayed near because a month later he became commander of Grenadier-Regiment 745 which took over the area from Kampfgruppe Dewald! Maybe some Urlaub for all his wounds?

I have found some Feldpostnr's in the same area late november '44 to january '45 from the third bataillion of AR 331, so not all units from the 331. were transferred to the 346. Infanterie-Division and Artillerie-Regiment 187?

Sorry for the delay, but I have a file on this unit, although I entered it as "KG Beig". This contains every mention of the unit in the German and Allied records that I have found.

Thanks!

I know about the LXXXVIII entries. The earliest date is 15 october from which the Kampfgruppe was transfered from the LXXXIX armeekorps together with the other divisions. Too bad from this korps there are no NARA rolls this late.

I am interested in the INTSUM entries. Are these anywhere to be found on the internet?

This could be from the second Kampfgruppe Bieg formed in 1945.

This may be of interest https://repository.ubn.ru.nl/bitstream/ ... /98661.pdf "Fighting Spirit Kampfgruppe Chill and the German recovery in the West between 4 September and 9 November 1944, a case study Jack Didden" Radboud Repository of the Radboud University Nijmegen. I found it to be an excellent well researched dissertation. There is reference to Major Bieg page 315
