Does he mention the Leopard (experimental design, like the German version of the Hellcat)

there is this 1961 book by Ferdinand von Senger und Etterlin:
„Die Panzergrenadiere. Geschichte und Gestalt der mechanisierten Infanterie 1930-1960“

it is totally fascinating if you are into TO&E of armored units. he has two chapters on the ideal Pz.Aufkl.Abt.

Cool. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there an English language version?

also, 500-12454-000054 from the Tsamo collection has the 7. PD‘s after action reports following Westfeldzug 1940. With recommendations for a future Pz.Aufkl.Abt.

Don't forget that the SdKfz 234/3 Stummel was taken out of production so that the SdKfz 234/4 could go into production. I wish that I could remember which division was the only one ever organised to this orbat but I can't. I think it was one of the named divisions.

I wasn't aware of that, but that's clearly the smart call; it's hard to avoid the conclusion that the light armoured vehicles they needed than anything else were more mobile Pak 40's (251/22's and 234/4's) and Flak Drillings (251/21's).
