SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment "Deutschland" 1943-1944

Hi all,

Can i have info on some parts of the SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment "Deutschland" in 1943-1944 period.

-Had the regiment "Deutschland" panzers and which types in one of their 13 kompanies? Or was it another regiment or part of the SS-Division "Das Reich" that had panzers, tank destroyers,...?

-if Regiment "Deutschland" had PAK40 or 43 guns, i think so since it turned in a Panzergrenadier-Regiment in 1943 and which kompanie?

-Which kompanie were Panzerjäger?

And what numerals the Regiment "Deutschland" had on their shoulderboards in 1943-1944. If they even used that or just sported the slip on "D".

Thanks in advance

SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 3 "Deutschland" was a motorized Regiment. From about October 1943 up through Normandy, as you noted above, it had 3 Battalions each with 4 companies. In addition there were four additional companies:
13.Kompanie (sIG), self-propelled
14.Kompanie (Flak), self-propelled
15.Kompanie (Kradschutzen)
16.Kompanie (Pionier)

The only detailed info I have on the vehicles and heavy weapons are from a Gliederung dated 4.4.44 while they were still rebuilding and did not yet have a II. Battalion nor a 15.Kompanie. It shows that the:

13.Kompanie was established according to K.St.N. 1120a which contained 2 schwere Infanteriegeschütze 33/1 (Sf) also known as Grille per Zug (with 3 Züge) (see http://downloads.sturmpanzer.com/KStN/K ... 1.1944.pdf)

14.Kompanie was established according to K.St.N. 192 which contained 3 Züge with 4 Gesch. 2.cm Flak (Sf) for a total of 12 for a full-strength Kompanie. The gliederung shows these as fully-tracked and the only candidate for a Flakpanzer at this point was the Flakpanzer 38t and it looks like some that were originally allocated to 9.SS were later ordered to be transferred to 2.SS if I am reading https://web.archive.org/web/20130827174 ... 543#160543 correctly

The heavy Company of each battalion (4.Komp, 8.Komp & 12.Komp) had a light Infanteriegeschütz Zug (K.St.N. 1123) which had 2 light Infanteriegeschütze (towed) and also a Panzerjäger Zug (K.St.N. 1145) which had 3 towed AT guns each (7.5 cm Pak 40 or 7.5 cm Pak 97 or 7.62 cm Pak 36).

The panzers were restricted to SS-Panzer-Regiment 2 with a few command/observation panzers in SS-Panzerartillerie-Regiment 2. The "tank destroyers" were in SS-Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 2 which after June 1944 was designated SS-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 2 though it continued to be equipped with StuG IIIs.

K.St.N. were in reality theoretical due to the possible unavailability of personnel and/or equipment.
