Austro Daimler ADMK

#1

Post by ArmchairSamurai » 10 Dec 2019, 22:33

Hello all. I found an image of an armored ADMK yesterday, yet its suspension was different than the image of an ADMK I already had for reference. I did some digging and the following three images all claim to be ADMKs. What is the difference? I did not realize there were variations of the vehicle in service. Did the Germans manufacture their own version of the vehicle?

Hi ArmchairSamurai,

it is right, that all vehicles on the pics You posted are ADMK (Austro-Daimler Motorkarrette). Austro-Daimler produced all 334 exemplares for the Austrian army. On pic 2 is an expemplar of the "Vorserie" (pre-series), on pic 1 an exemplar of the normal series and on pic 3 an exemplar, which was taken over by the Wehrmacht and then had received a new superstructure which provided more space for the crew. (source of the information: "Krad´ftfahrzeuge und Panzer des österreichsuischen Heeres 1896 bis heute" by Walter J. Spielberger and the site "www.kfzderwehrmacht.de" by Holger Erdmann).

Bert

Hello,
The German modification was known as the ADMK/WARK. Here is a photo of several of these curious vehicles.
Cheers,
Kerry.

This thread is just another reason why AHF should not be allowed to die!

Right, Leo. As your signature says "Information not passed on is lost." Let's all hope Marcus can close the deal to keep AHF afloat.

Max

Hi Guys,

The history of 157. Reservedivision (a mountain training and replacement formation) has some photos of the vehicle still in use on operations against the maquis in Glieres and/or Vercors in early/mid 1944.

Cheers,

Sid.

Thank you SIS 5, kerryboo, Maxschnauzer & Sid Guttridge! It means a lot to have a place where I can ask such questions and that someone out there may know the answer. Leo Niehorster, you are absolutely right!

Certainly Max, I have plenty more photographs where that came from (somewhere around 6,000 now).
If there were a subpage just for posting photographs, I would enjoy giving back to the community that has put up with my stupid questions for so long.

Perhaps an early model, or stripped down for sport?

Hi Norwest,
I think it is just a normal series vehicle wit the front plate taken off.
