Panther tanks unit Großde 2488

Greetings All,

I just bought a photo of Panthers driving down the road in Romania 1944. The unit is listed as Großde 2488. I have not been able to find out anything about this unit...any ideas?

Thanks for any help on this.

No idea about the 2488 but "Großde" is probably an abbreviation for Pz.Gren.Div. Großdeutschland.

You called it. I went to the Wiki page for Großdeutschland looking for a regiment number or something and the page was displaying the same photo I just bought, the title "Panther tanks of the division in Romania, 1944".
