Hello, i am wondering if someone has any more information about these images.
Thanks!
Re: Nordland Halftrack Wreck Battle of Berlin
These classic photos were taken after the breakout attempt close to the Freidrichstrasse U-bahn station. Often this photo is claimed to be the half-track of SS-Hstuf. Hans-Gösta Pehrsson, company commander of 3./SS-Pz-Aufkl-Abt 11. However, this information is likely to be incorrect. The half track is a SdKfz 250/7 mortar half-track. As evident from the numbers on the side, this used to be half-track no 339 (Third company, third platoon) - however, following the costly battles which the SS-Pz-Aufkl-Abt 11 had participated in, the abteilung was subject to reorganisation at Oder. The mortar platoon of the 3./AA11 was under command of the Swedish volunteer Erik Wallin (SS-Uscha.) and was transferred from the third to the fifth company (the weapons company); therefore, at the time when the vehicle was knocked out it was more likely belonging to the fifth, rather than the third, company.

Alright, but i thought that the 250/7 did not have a MG42 in the front because of clearance for the Mortar. Has this been transformed as well due to its transfer from Mortars over to Panzergrenadier Company?Lasse wrote: ↑20 Oct 2020, 16:05These classic photos were taken after the breakout attempt close to the Freidrichstrasse U-bahn station. The photo with the woman was used as inspiration for a scene in the movie "Der Untergang". I wonder how she died, and if she was moved when the photo was taken. Was the door open when she was killed? Did she tried to escape, run away?

Hello
There are other views of this vehicle, which do not necessarily reflect the interpretation that can be made.

Re: Nordland Halftrack Wreck Battle of Berlin
Is there a similar thread on the forum dealing with the body of the SS officer (shown briefly here) and examining the area, trying to work out precise location, dates and if he was from Nordland or another unit and Swedish or French, etc ? I cant find it at the moment but I'm sure I saw it here. thanks
