Performance of Officer/NCO Cadet Units 1945
Performance of Officer/NCO Cadet Units 1945
Do anyone have any interesting information to share concerning the performance of groups/units formed by Officer and NCO schools during 1945, specifically on the eastern front?

Check 12.Armee (Wenck's Army) circa April-May 45 on the Elbe front against the Americans. Then later going east to bail out Busse's 9.Armee.
Check the young cadet based formations like the Scharnhost and Ulrich von Hutten Divisions.

There was many soldiers of this type holding Fortress Metz in 1944. According to the history I read (The Unknown Battle Metz 1944, Kemp) they were tough in the defense and reputed as such by American units.
Not East front 1945 but this result is not unexpected.

Are there examples you can think of about German soldiers that performed deeds that warrant the Knight's Cross from these units?
