Subordination of SS-Kavallerie Division in July-August 1943
Subordination of SS-Kavallerie Division in July-August 1943
I'm looking for information regarding the subordination of this division for the given period. Between July and most of August 1943, the division conducted anti-partisan and security duties in the Mozyr region in Belarus, which means that it was either in the rear area of HG Mitte, Reichskommissariat Ostland or Wehrmachtsbefehlshaber Weißruthenien.
In the last decade of August 1943, the division was transferred to 8. Armee of HG Sud in the Kharkov area. I'm interested to know to which unit the division was subordinated at the time of its transfer.

Re: Subordination of SS-Kavallerie Division in July-August 1943
Hello,
Wow that was really a hard one as it seems to dissapear from all official orders of battle in this period. But I was able to find a first trace:
Subordinated:
14.4.43-30.4.1943 to Höherer SS- und Polizei-Führer Russland Mitte, Beauftragter des RFSS für die Bandenbekämpfung
1.5.-10.6.43 to Kampfgruppe Schimana
11.6.-17.8.43 to Höherer SS- und Polizei-Führer Russland Mitte

Thanks for the info. I also thought it was impossible to find to whom this division was subordinated to for the given period, cause I researched it extensively. What is your source for this info?Christoph Awender wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 20:06Hello,

Also, with regards to this division.
Do you happen to also have monthly status reports (Monatlichen Zustandsberichten) for this division between September-December 1943?
I'm particularly interested in monthly personnel strength (Verpflegungsstärke, Iststärke etc.) and overall losses (Abgange) reports for these months.
This division was transferred to hard pressed HG Sud in the Ukraine in the last decade of August 1943, later participating in costly battles near the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943. In December 1943, most of the depleted division was withdrawn from the Ukraine and sent to Balkans for rebuildoing, leaving one cavalry regiment in the Kovel region.
