Hello, Randy here!
I have been scouring the internet for information about this, but found absolutely nothing. I know, basically, the ranks of the Heer, but I am trying to figure out what their system was for promoting?

Would it have been possible to start from the bottom and climb the ladder to eventually become an officer? Or, better put, could an NCO become an Oberleutnant? If so, how would this happen?

Along with that, if an officer (let's say a leutnant in charge of a platoon) was killed, how was he replaced?

I apologize if there is already a thread/topic for this question. I found one similar, but it was a slightly different question. *sweats in newbie*
