The battle of Wallendorf 14-22 September 1944

Post by Luukkeetels » 27 Dec 2022 22:29

Hello everybody,

I am trying to figure out which units were in the city of Wallendorf itself in the early days of this battle. 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 September.
All I could find was that on the morning of 14 September an “Alarmbatallion” arrived out of Trier. This should fall under Armeekorps LXXX. Sadly I have no clue at all which specific units could have been part of it. I did read a lot of books discussing the topic and dived in many archives but I sadly can’t figure it out.

I have some pictures as well made by an US war photographer who is named Riley. These pictures are from the Battle of Wallendorf and are both dated 17-9-44. Sadly I can’t find the complete name of this Riley, if someone can help me it would be really appreciated!

Thank you all in advance!

Kind regards,
Luuk
