Post by Robvdn » 06 Oct 2023 12:34

Hello all,

I am looking for info on the personnel and Panzer losses of 7 Panzer Division on 20 May 40 whilst advancing towards Arras and being subject to RAF fighters strafing these German forces. Who can help me in this matter? Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Rob

The account of the 7. Panzer Division in the Battle of France may be found in NARA Microfilm RG 242, T315, Roll 401, Frame 0754~. I believe it is also available from BAMA digitally through Invenio but have not checked. Between 16 and 20 May the 7 Panzer Division continued to advance against an increasingly weakening French resistance, including the remnants of the 1eme DCR. German losses were 141 KIA, 310 WIA and 21 MIA. There were no reported German tank or major vehicle losses. The Germans claimed 11,250 French captured, 110 tanks, 27 artillery guns, 5 antitank guns, and 31 aircraft captured or destroyed.

Thank you Richard for your interesting reply. Was only able to trace T315 R405 - who can help me with rolls 399, 400, 401, 402, 403 and 404? best regards, Rob

Hello to all :D; just two cent.........................

Losses of 7 Panzer Division on 20 May 40.

Enemy counterattacks, partly with tank support and partly with the help of air combat groups, were repelled everywhere. A.A. 37 under Maj. Erdmann and K 7 under Captain von Hagen had to withstand a particularly heavy enemy attack in the Lecluse - Etaing section......

On this day 1 officer (Lt Kamm), 5 NCOs and 45 men were killed. No mention about tanks losses.
