New Book on the market regards "Panzerdivision Müncheberg", by Hein Johannsen, "Werner Mummert; Das Leben eines sächsischen Offiziers". For years Johannsen was studying, researching the life of Werner Mummert and came up with this voluminous book in A4 seize over 710 pages, on highgloss paper!!! Plenty of photos. I may hint that Johannsen made also use of my fathers collection (Quellenmaterial) which he personally found, after the 11 removal cartons were lost in the Freiburg Militärarchiv, right there in the Archive. I can recommend this book to anyone interested in the person Werner Mummert, or his position as Generalmajor in the Panzerdivision Müncheberg. If you want to order: [email protected]

Re: Let's build Panzer-Division "Müncheberg" !
Could someone explain what happened exactly on March 22nd?
In this thread I have seen two different events:
1.) Müncheberg was involved in a counter attack on Küstrin on the 22nd, which was its baptism of fire; and/or
2.) according to "small unit actions on the eastern front" it was involved in a defensive action west of Küstrin
did both of these happen? After the attack failed did the Division conduct the defensive action? Or is there an error with one of the sources?
