Artillerie Regiment 211
Artillerie Regiment 211
I'm trying to find info on Artillerie Regiment 211, which I believe was a part of the 211 Infanterie-Division. During the period Sept. 1939 till Dec. 1940, the 211 Inf. Div. had been attached to the 4th, 5th and 6th armee. I'm looking for the various locations that the Art. Reg. 211 served at during this period. Any information that relates to Art. Reg. 211 would be greatly appreciated. Also, please correct me if any of the information I have is wrong.
Thanks
Tim

nitpicking...
Hello Michael!
Sorry, just a little nitpicking!
Artillerie-units were organized in Abteilungen not battalions.

Thanks for the responses, it was greatly appreciated!! Is it possible, Andy or anyone else, for a bit more detail on the locations? Does anyone know any specific towns or cities etc. or involvement in any major battles (that might help find further info.) that Art. Reg. 211 served at? Also, any reasons as to why the 211 Inf. Div. changed armees like they did, is this common practice?
Thanks

Hi Tim
I'm at work at present but I'll see what I can dig out when I get home.
In relation to Divisions moving armies, then there is nothing perculiar about that, as the dispostion of the Division was ruled by the events around it especially on the Southern & Central parts of the Russian Front. AG North with 16th & 18th Armies ahd a pretty static war till 1944 and so accordingly the divisions allocated to them didn't change much, and usually only within the Korps structure.
