Hi Jan!

ANDRESEN claims he was a Kompanieführer in some documents he wrote after his return from russian captivity. Unfortunately he does not mention which company he led. In some documents it says he was captured in march 1945 other in Berlin in may 1945.....

SVENKE was probably in the 1. Cp in january 1944. He had been sent to Straflager der SS und Polizei Danzig-Matzkau in 1942 serving a 2 year sentence from SS-Frw.Legion Norwegen.

I have been following this thread and now it's time for me to make my contribution and do a summary which is a bit similar to Lasse's latest summary. Namely to update the list of Company commanders. The info is based on this thread and some dates marked with asterix (*) come from Mark Yerger's book concerning "Nordland". When there has been conflicting dates I have chosen the ones which seem most likely and are not contradicting with other dates.

Hi!

Found this man in the Staff of the unit:

- Werner SCHNEIDER b. 25.03.1913 Saarbrücken, he was an Stabsarzt and got the EK I while serving in the unit on June, 6th 1944.

What happened to him?

Hi
I know a Schneider. The Department was IVb. I have but for me the words which he has fallen in March 1944. This is certainly then wrong. Because according to Moore, he died in 1996.
I've got a further Schneider in the 5.Kp.. If this is the same?

Hi,

I believe Stabsarzt is the rank of Werner Schneider, indicating he came from a Heer or Luftwaffe unit. My guess is from one of the two Feld-Division(L) that were attached to III.(germ.) SS-Panzer-Korps. There were more than few who went to W-SS units maintaining their original rank. For how long they stayed there or if they changed to W-SS ranks is as yet unknown to me.
That's about all I can add for now, hope it helps.

Gents I have been given this organisation for 11SS Pz Aufkl Abt, apparently published in the Swedish Pansar magazine in 1991. Unfortunately the organisation is undated. It looks far too strong IMO. Would anyone care to comment?

Cheers

Hi!

The number of Sd.Kfz. 231/232 is too large. If I remember correctly, Nordland only received 6 of these.

There do seem to be an awful lot of SdKfz 250/9s in that battalion as well.
