Mike, the organisation of such a unit, like all units, was subject to constant change. When official changes were ordered, a new KstN scedule was made. But between official KstN and actual organisation of most of the units was a wide range of varieties, especially in 1944/45, because by that time the Germans had huge problems with deliveries of weapons, vehicles, etc., to meet the requirements.

Can you be more specific as for which Stabskompanie at which time in the war you are looking for?

Cheers,
Timo

Timo
Well, Im looking for the Stabskompanie structure for III.(gep.)/SS-Pz.Gre.Rgt.26 during 1944 when SS-Stubaf.Olboeter was the commander until his death on 2.9.44.
Thanks for the reply!

Timo
Been looking around and found this on the Stab structure of III.(gep.)/SS-Pz.Gre.Rgt.26, it contained a Nachrichtenzug equipped with SdKfz 251/11 and 251/3.This is all I found, would you have anything to add to this little start?

Michael

I have never heard that a Panzer Grenadier Battaillon had a Stabskompanie. As far as I know it had only the Battaillonsstab (Battaillon Staff) and from 44`on a Versorgungs Kompanie (Supply Company).
But there was a Stabskompanie fpr the Panzer Grenadier Regiment. It contained (in 1944) a Nachrichtenzug (as stated above) and a Kradmelderzug (Motorcycle Messenger Platoon). In 1943 there were also a Panezrjägerzug (3 x 75mm Pak) and a Flammenwerferzug (6 x Plame-Thrower).

My source is the book from Thomas L. Jentz - Die deusche Panzertruppe Teil 2 - 1943-45

P.S. I think the Organisation of the Panzer Divisions in the book applies only for Army Units, so the SS Units may well have looked differently.

Hope this helps

Hallo Martin and Michael,

Martin is right, the Stab of the Regiment had a Stabskompanie.

For 06.1944 (both SS and Heer) the composition of a Panzergrenadier-Regiment:

Stab:
- Stabskompanie
- 13.(sIG)Komp.
- 14.(FlaK)Komp.
- 15.(Pio)Komp.
- Versorgungskompanie

I.Battalion:
- 1.Kompanie
- 2.Kompanie
- 3.Kompanie
- 4.(schw.)Komp.

II.Battalion:
- 5.Kompanie
- 6.Kompanie
- 7.Kompanie
- 8.(schw.)Komp.

III.Battalion:
- 9.Kompanie
- 10.Kompanie
- 11.Kompanie
- 12.(schw.)Kompanie

This is what you're after:
Stabskompanie im Regimentsstab (KStN 1104 (gp) vom 01.04.1944)
- Gruppe Führer (1 Kettenkrad, 1 le Pkw)
- Nachrichtenzug (1 Kettenkrad, 4 SdKfz 251/3, 3 Lkw 2t für Feldkabeltrupps)
- Erkunderzug (15 Kettenkräder/ VW)
- Kfz. Instandsetzungsgruppe (1Lkw 2t, 2 Lkw 3t, 1 Sdkfz 7)
- Sanitätsstaffel (1 le Pkw, 1 Lkw 2t, 2 SdKfz 251/ 8)
- Gefechtstross (2 le Pkw, 6 Lkw 3t)
- Waffenmeisterei (1 Lkw 3t)
- Verpflegungstross (2 Lkw 3t)
- Gepäcktross (1 le Pkw, 1 Lkw 3t)

Cheers,
Timo

Timo

Thanks for the info

I always thought that the Panzergrenadier Regimenter in the Panzerdivisionen (Heer) ahd only 2 Battaillons whilst the Regiments of the Panzer Grenadier Divisionen had 3.

Ofcourse you're right.

Waffen-SS had three battalions per Panzergrenadier-Regiment and Heeres Panzergrenadier-Regimenter had only 2.
