Which units received MarderII?
Hello!
I am trying to find out the unit with the bulls-head emblem on my unknown emblems-section.
http://chrito.users1.50megs.com/_data/d ... nknown.htm
This bulls-head is the traditional emblem of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern which means Wehrkreis II. (am I right with the WK?)
Units formed in WKII were:
12 Pz, 32, 59, 75, 122, 152 Res, 162, 192 Res, 207 Sec, 242, 258, 274, 281 Sec, 292, 302, 347, 353, 402 Res, 549 VG, 550 VG, 551 VG, 570 VG, 572 VG, 702.
I guess the Reserve, Sicherungs and VG divisions can be ruled out.
59., 242., 274., 281., 347., 353., 702. weren´t at the east-front which also rules them out because russian soldiers examine the Marders.
Which leaves 12.PD., 32., 75., 122., 162., 258., 292., 302.Inf.Div.
Any chance to find out which Panzerjägerabteilungen of these units received Marder II (if it is a Marder II SdKfz.132?)
Any help and also confirmation of the facts I assume in the above message greatly appreciated!!
Christoph

we have it!!
Hello!
With great help of some people we solved the mystery.
It is for nearly 100% sure the emblem of Panzerjäger-Abteilung (Sfl.)611.
It was formed in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (bulls-head logo) in Wehrkreis II. It was equipped with Marder II and was destroyed in Stalingrad where the picture was taken!
thanks for the input,
Christoph

Hi Christoph,
Do you have any details about the Panzerjäger-Abteilung (Sfl.)611's history during late summer 1942? This unit was subordinated to 2nd Hungarian army in September, 1942 and took part the last Uriw bridgehead battle between 9 and 16 September, 1942. I have just poor info about this unit (but it was true: they had Marder II's)
Regards,
Csaba

sources
Hello Csaba!
Unfortunately I don´t know any sources for Panzerjägerabteilungen. There are some excellent volumes about some s.Pz.Jg.Abteilungen which you could find at http://www.angelraybooks.com but maybe someone else knows a comprehensive book about all units.
