Re: On a Bicycle Built For....War
Btw, on the photo # 155 , there are some "Miele" bicycles to see... (Herrenrad)
The typical front fender emblem, nice RAD photo, thank you!
Miele: http://www.miele-technikgeschichte.de/d ... e/2346.htm
(Excellent quality, the bikes from the 1930s, and earlier, they are still cherished and appreciated by bike lovers..)

Some of these bicycle companies still exist today.Prior to the outbreak of the war the manufacture of bicycles for the military
was undertaken by civilian firms, which were also manufacturing bicycles for
the general public.
These firms manufactured the bicycles according to their
own design and little or no adaptations were made for a singular military use. These firms included:
Achilles-Werke,
Adler-Werke,
Assman-Werke,
Baronia,
Brennabor-Werke,
Eska-Werke,
Elsterwerdaer,
Excelsior,
Express-Werke,
Fahrrad-Werke-Bismark,
Falter-Fahrrad-Werke,
FKZ-Werke,
Frike,
Haenel,
Heidemann,
Hercules-Werke,
Junior-Werke,
Kuxmann,
Meister-Fahrradwerke,
MIFA,
Opel-Werke,
Pantherwerke,
Patricia W.K.C.,
Phänomen-Werke,
Rabeneick,
Solinger Fahrradwerke,
Franz H. Schaaf,
Stadion,
Stricker,
Sudbrak HuW,
Tornedo-Werke,
orpedo-Werke,
Tripol,
Triumph-Werke,
Velamos-Werke
Wanderer

Helmut, the pdf file is mentioned just a few minutes before above...
As a person with an affinity for bicycles, the "Diamant Fahrradwerke" were unfortunately not mentioned in the pdf file above,
am I wrong about this ?
Diamant Fahrradwerke https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamant_Fahrradwerke
My very best owned bike, was a TREK 7600 hand built in the USA. (Lifetime warranty for the first owner)
In 1992 just under 2000, - DM, very expensive at the time, a small luxury, still the best bike of my life, ever.
Stolen by a drug addict person in 2015, and probably hawked for small drug money.
I hope, this thief fell on his own nasty face with the bike properly, the bastard!
I'm still sorry for that loss, years later...
A really good bike you buy only once in a lifetime, like a excellent pair of leather gloves, or even a good pair of hiking boots from Austria, a Swiss wristwatch, but who do I tell...
