Gebirgs Arko 109

Post by USAF1986 » 04 Aug 2002, 23:11

Hi! Does anyone know what corps Gebirgs Arko 109 was subordinated to from September 1943-July 1944? Presumably, Gebirgs Arko 109 was with a corps serving in Finland.

Thanks!
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

ARKO 109 was attached to XXXVI (Geb.) A.K., which served in Norway/Lapland from September 1940 to the war's end.

Fact #1: No German units were on Finnish territory before June 1941.
Fact #2: XXXVI AK arrived in Salla region, Finland, during June 1941. It became Geb.AK later, although it had no Geb. units.
Fact #3: Higher German staffs were widthdrawn from Finnish territory well before the end of the year 1944.
