It is possible some came on Italian destroyers, but it's very difficult to ascertain.

90. Leichte took over the defence of the Benghazi/Agedabia sector from Osterkamp on 13 or 14 December, and SV Daumiller would then have been subordinated to it. On 4 January an order for the occupation of the Marada - Mersa el Brega position was issued by Panzergruppe, which put the Marada garrison (SV Daumiller, a Sahariana company, maybe some other stuff) under XXI. C.A., but reporting to Panzergruppe through 90. Leichte (which had remained in the north of the position), and I presume that 90. Leichte remained administratively responsible for it. This only changed when the Marada group was dissolved in early February, and SV Daumiller was brought up.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

Ok, Urmel, understood. When Sonderverband 288 was effectively subordinated to 90. Leichte Division? March 1942?

Cheers,

I'm afraid my records don't cover that period yet.

Hello,

does anyone knows which units remained during 1943 & 1944 in the Cape Sounion and Lavrion area after the below mentioned Sonderverbands left?
There is a huge underground installation in the area recently discovered, bunkers are engraved with October 1943 and 1944 dates on the walls.
Thanks

This may help a bit. I have seen no evidence that they used anything other than standard issue weapons.

Hi, apologies. I suspect the guns were brought by plane as well. Daumiller was subordinated to 90th Light when the latter took over the Agedabia area in early December.
