Gentlemen,

Were there any newspaper articles about Heinrich Mausberg who had destroyed over 50 Soviet tanks? I know he was little known.

Edward L. Hsiao
Unfortunately not, and since the only high award he received was the DKiG (and in 1945 no less) it’s unlikely anything regarding him will be found in the newspapers.

If you're interested, I found on some Russian sites the story of Mausberg who was sentenced to be shot, but saved himself by handing himself over to the Russians.
We also read that he got 53 kills.
They probably obtained this information during interrogations.
One is this.

Here's a Korps Tagesbefehl concerning a certain Unteroffizier Trautmann. He destroyed 6 tanks in 35 minutes on the 12.8.1942.

Hello ...

well, I have seen this Korpstagesbefehl too, some months before, but I don't know the unit of Uffz. Trautmann. Obviously this is a EK 1 action and not really easy to track down :-(

Hello
I found a new site with digitized newspapers, there are many names.
There are three ritterkreuz on this.
Oberleutnant Hans Moller - Pz.Jg.kie.1181 - 3 Kills???
Leutnant Karl Wilhelm Lindemann - PZ:Rgt.29 - 6 Kills????
Unteroffizier Rudolf Kettmann - Pz.Jg.Kie.1122 - 10 kills (Already added)

I found another article by Hans Moller, at the bottom it says that one of his Zugfuhrers, Oberfeldwebel Weber, destroyed 14 tanks and 37 paks.

Hello Antonio,

nice find :-)

Erich Weber, Zugf. in Pz.Jg.Kp. 1181, got the EK1 on 25.7.1944.

Hello Antonio,

nice find! He continued to get awarded with the Eichenlaub, and despite that in the function of an Brigadekommandeur, I'm sure he still (at least from time to time) used his Kommandeursgeschütz to participate in the fightings. So, most probably, some more tank kills in total for Alfred Montag.

Kercher, Fritz Leutnant Zugführer i. d. 1./Pz.Jäg.Abt 5 – Stug - 12 kills
Hello Antonio,

well, the recommendation has to be read as this 12 tanks where the company score (well, at least 2 or 3 Sturmgeschütze), not the personal score of Lt. Kercher alone.

He could well have had more than 12 or 20 tanks to his credit, but the action described is not his personal total.

Oliver
I found a new newspaper article about him, where 15 victories are recognized.
I think these refer to him, and not to his company.

Hello Antonio,

hm, that's difficult. Indeed it sounds like the 12 tanks were his personal score for 16./17.12.1943. But later on, they wrote "mit seinem Sturmgeschützzug", which means his 2 or 3 guns prevented a breakthrough. On the other hand, the term "schoss ... allein 12 sowj. Panzer ab" would mean that was his personal score. It's a newspaper, very nice source, but secondary source (you also knew this typing errors from time to time).

I'm still confident, that the original text should read "schoss Leutnant Kercher allein MIT SEINEM ZUG 12 sowj. Panzer ab", something like that.

But, good find, the total score of Lt. Kercher from 1.11. to 17.12.1943 was 15 tanks, that is clear :-)

Thanks Oliver

I have two Stug Aces

One was already included, Hauptmann Karl Schussler - Stug.Abt.912, but I found a new newspaper article attributing 19 kills to him.

The other:
Leutnant Werner Schlötel - 3./Sturmartillerie-Brigade 226 -13 kills
