Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
A short remark on a wrong captioned photo. This series of Nordafrika photos http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 3#p1283473 has one pic which does not show Günter Halm !
Thanks for taking notice and thanks to the colleague who gave this hint !

I'm quite through the revision and the status quo of listing of the s.Pz.Abt. members.

Does anyone know if Fritz Langanke is still living and, if so, how to contact him?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Ob.Kdo. HGr.Mitte mentions StuGesch.Abt.1007 (7.ID) for destroying 44 tanks between 9.7. and 29.7.44, of them alone 18 by an Lt. Straub.
This seems to be the RK- and DKiG-Träger Johann Straub

Another addition to the list : Oberfeldwebel Albert Dressel (1914-1944). He was Platoon Leader for the 3rd Panzers, Abteilung 160. He was a RKT, and was KIA. He destroyed 37 Heavy Russian Tanks at Stalingrad!

Well,AlifRafikKhan wrote:... He destroyed 37 Heavy Russian Tanks at Stalingrad! ...
with his PLATOON he engaged an russian attack North of Stalingrad and destroyed 37 tanks in the middle of September 1942, his personal score being 16 tanks !!!
Source: The wartime periodical "Die Panzertruppe" which you should trust

His total score could of course have been more than 37 tanks, as he served from 1939 with 8./Pz.Rgt. 1, than 3./Pz.Abt. 160, afterwards 1./Pz.Abt. "FHH" and finally Pz.Abt. 2106...

He also scored 3 french tanks on 23.05.1940 at Aire with an 3,7cm Pak, adding 13 sowjet tanks the total is 16.
There's also one photo existing showing 16 kill rings on the gun barrel.

George,
unfortunately I have no scanner, but you can find it in the book
Claudius Rupp "Im Feuer gestählt", Panzerjäger der Waffen-SS, Division "Das Reich"
On page 32 and also on page 49 you can see this gun with the kill rings.
Hopefully another member of this forum can post it...
