I would like to add a new name Uffz. Peter Kohs
Hello Antonio,

his name was Kohns ..., and I haven't put in Uffz. Kohns because I'm not sure if he really was the gun commander, maybe the gunner or maybe ..., just a crew member?

Reason for that is, that the Kriegsgliederung of s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 654 for 5.7.1943 with the Jägerführer (gun commanders) in the book from J.J. Fedorowicz shows Ferdinand "513" with Oberfeldwebel Helmold, while Unteroffizier Kohns is shown for Ferdinand "614".

Of course, the gun commanders could have changed over the course of the battle, even within the separate companies of the Abteilung.

Also, I can't find Kohns nor Helmold within the recipients of the Iron Cross 2nd or 1st class for 654, so ...

Maybe Ferdinand "513" had 8 tank kills, for sure as this is what the kill rings show us. But it could be that Ofw. Helmold had let's say 2 or 3 kills, than another commander joined after the wounding of Helmold, finally Kohns took over and had one or two kills (or none?), being pictured in front of his Ferdinand AFTER the battle.

Important:
Ferdinand "513" was from 1./s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 654, which ist = 1. of II./s.Pz.Jg.REGIMENT 656
1. Kompanie had 500 numbers
2. Kompanie had 600 numbers
3. Kompanie had 700 numbers

Finally, Peter Kohns: He continued to serve with the sister bataillon s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 653, from THAT chronicle I know that he had 1 KW1 and 2 trucks (still with Ferdinand a.k.a. Elefant tank destroyers, and on 22.3.1945 he destroyed 2 armoured cars with his Jagdtiger from the 653. So, of course he had some success, but I'm afraid he didn't have 8 tank kills during "Zitadelle" ...

Thanks Oliver
I have an impossible mission,
Some time ago I found two photos of PZ.III from Panzer Regiment 18 on the Internet.
One "511" has 10 and the other "52?" 18 kill rings.
If you can find out who I am

I have an impossible mission,
Hi Antonio,

yes, impossible ...

But wait? Seing my note that Leutnant Karl-Ludwig Kegel, Zugführer with 5./Pz.Rgt. 18, at the time of his recommendation for the Ritterkreuz on 9.8.1941 hat 18 (!) tank kills to his credit ..., and Panzer III "52x" could have been "521" = the tank of one of the Zugführer of this company. Also, this pic showing a Panzer III short-barelled 5 cm most probably is from 1941 ...

Conclusion?

:?

Well, at least Leutnant Kegel hat 18 tank kills and this tank has 18 kill rings ...

The other one, Panzer III "511" ..., well, another Zugführer tank.

Oblt. Werner Kunz from 5. Kompanie got the EK2 in July 1941 and the EK1 in Sept. 1941, he is a possible for that, but he also could have been the Kompaniechef which should have used tank "500" or "501".

Rudolf Haen joined this company later in November 1941 as Chef, so as I don't have an officer roster for Pz.Rgt. 18 for 1941, we are still spekulating. Also, tanks where used according to availability. If 5./Pz.Rgt. 18 just had 4 tanks operational, Oblt. Kunz could have used "522", Lt. Kegel "534", Uffz. Werner "535" and Ofw. Hauptmann "541" or similar.

No clue for anything, at the end :D

Thanks Oliver
I also thought that one of the two was Kegel, he is the only one with a high decoration of the 5. kompanie

Hm ...

I know from Fw. Arnold's three tank kills on 10.4.45, but the others, incl. Totzek ...?

The following is known to me:

10.04.45 Fw. Arnold = 3
11.04.45 Fw. Rondorf = 2, Lt. Boguth = 2, Lt. Kubelka = 4
15.04.45 Fw. Rondorf = 3

I'm not sure as with the other claims, do you have other sources than the two Jagdtiger books ?

I can confirm, saw that entry in Bundesarchiv files (Tagesmeldung AOK 10, 21.4.1945) ...

I'm just not sure if he was a gunner or a gun commander. At that late stages of war it could be that a Obergefreiter was a gun commander for a Nashorn, but it's more probable that he was a gunner ...

Hello Antonio,

I can confirm that, including the information that Leutnant d.R. Feineisen served as a Zugführer with the Sturmgeschütz-Batterie of 3. Luftwaffen-Felddivision in autumn 1943.

Hi Antonio,

ah, I read this one many years ago, thank you for bringing that to my attention again :-)

Otherwise I can't add anything to the personality of Nicolai, Forename and final fate unknown to me ...

For Arnold, I had found this information on the internet, unfortunately I don't remember where. As usual I made a note, but not where I found it.

If you are interested, you can find information about Schmidt and the SPz.Jg.Abt.655 in this link, it is Kaminski's diary for 1945. Unfortunately it is in Czech.
