Hello Antonio,

for sure, this is the right man. With the usual inaccuracy (as of the correct spelling of names) sometimes shown by the newspapers those days!

He of course also got the EK 1st class in August 1944 from 272. Inf.Div.

Hello Antonio,

well, this is not a PANZER Hauptmann, it was Hauptmann d.Res. Georg Lindner, acting as a Kompanieführer with II./Pz.Rgt. 29 during his Generalstab-Ausbildung! Date was 15.7.1943 and he was there for one week since, doing a Waffenlehrgang within the Panzer-Regiment. He cames from the Artillerie branch, but I have no more details. He must have had the EK1 already as I can't see any EK2 or EK1 award for him by 12. Pz.Div.

Also, his fate remains unknown to me as it's not a uncommon name in Germany, but with no further details ...

On 23 January Heerespanzerjager 2. B. destroyed 30 enemy tanks. 19 from the zug of the Feldwebel Landsteiner, of which 11 from the Gefreiten Dick.

I don't know anything about the Heerespanzerjager 2.B. and what weapons he had.

Hello Antonio,

well ..., see this other newspaper, Münstersche Zeitung from 25.1.1944
https://zeitpunkt.nrw/ulbms/periodical/zoom/11987225
Münstersche Zeitung 25.01.44 - H.Pz.Jg.Abt. (wohl 666), Gieg und Sangsteiner.png
Münstersche Zeitung 25.01.44 - H.Pz.Jg.Abt. (wohl 666), Gieg und Sangsteiner.png (316.59 KiB) Viewed 682 times

This one, of course, gives us different names Gieg and Sangsteiner instead of Dick and Landsteiner, and also the unit designation as "Heeres-Panzerjäger z.B.", which I think should mean z.b.V.

Anyway, this is not correct, with the area of Leningrad given in the text I think of H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 563 or s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 666. I have quite some names from H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 563, and well, yes, found them both:

Feldwebel Ferdinand Langsteiner and Gefreiter Heribert Gieck, both from 2./Pz.Jg.Abt. 563, they both got the EK 2 on 17.1.1944 and EK1 on 21.1.1944 by L. AK, and you can see, that NONE of the newspapers had their name right!

Pz.Jg.Abt. 563 had 30 Marder Sfl. 7,5 cm Pak 40 on Panzer II at hand (einsatzbereit) with another 14 Marder Sfl. 7,5 cm Pak 40 on Panzer 38(t) on delivery (in Zuführung) on 31.12.1943. The latter ones, as far as I know, destined for 3. and 4./P 563. So Fw. Langsteiner and Gefr. Gieck served with Marder II, Sd.Kfz. 131 :-)

Important: Date of action was 17.1.1944, not 23.1.1944!

Thanks Oliver, great

I found news about Unteroffizier Kohlke in various newspapers.

I had already entered it with 19 wins, but since nothing can be found on the net I thought I'd add something.
We read that he already had 12 victories, and added 7 more in 3 fights.
The former probably refer to the battle of Klepenino, where as Gunner of Unteroffizier Otto Androw's PAK/50, he destroyed 12 enemy tanks from 22/1/43 to 7/2/43.
The latter perhaps he obtained on the famous Marder II Kohlenklau.
I understand that he was awarded both the Ehrenblatt and the German Cross in Gold on the same day, 10/16/1942,.
I would like to know if it is true, I have is an error.

Hello guys,

Amazing info here! Do you also have any info about SS-Hscha. Paul Trabandt of SS-PzJägAbt.5 ? What were his total claims and I asume that he went on in a Jagdpanzer IV ?
Don't have the source for this anymore:

"On the 06.09.1943 Paul Trabandt and his self-propelled AT gun were part of a weak screen covering the railway line between Poltava and Kharkov, in position amongst corn and sunflower fields. Following an artillery preparation a group of Soviet tanks and infantry advanced on Germans. Trabandt's gun quickly dispatched two of the enemy tanks and stymied the enemy attack. The Soviets tried again two more times, and six tanks threatened to breakthrough the German lines. Trabandt and his subordinated troops knocked out all of them, the last one just 15 meters away from Trabandt's gun with the help of SMG's and grenades. Over the course of the whole action 17 enemy tanks were knocked out and the German position remained intact. For his actions this day Trabandt received the Knight's Cross."

Hello Hardigan
Probably here
https://www.tracesofwar.com/persons/288 ... t-Paul.htm

I found something more in a Dutch newspaper.
https://www.delpher.nl/nl/kranten/view? ... 44&rowid=1
Arnhemsche courant 06-11-1943

Translated with Google :
Paul Trabandt refers to the retreat battles S.-W. van Charkof, through its own initiative and tenacious defense against enemy infantry and armored forces, enabled its own infantry to move into a blocking position and thereby thwarted an enemy breakthrough. He destroyed nine enemy armors in these battles.

Hello Antonio,

Yes, it was on traces of war, but I only can get the Dutch version of it right now strange enough and there's no story of it, thanks for the newspaper.

Hello Antonio,

well, indeed Helmut Kohlke got the Ehrenblattspange and the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on the same day, but that's just a coincidence.

The GCiG was awarded for several actions after the EK1 award (which was on 14.2.1942).
The Mention in the Ehrenblatt was for action on 24./25.8.42 at Subzow, for sure the action described in the newspaper.

Also, the 19 kill rings of his Marder in early 1943 were his total, including those as a gunner, so we can say that he had no additional tank kills after the August 1942 action!

The action as a gunner of Uffz. Androw's Pak was in 1942, not in 1943, so ..., no confirmed victories with "Kohlenklau" yet!

Have to mention, that Kohlke went missing in September 1944 in the Dukla Pass area ...

Good morning.
I wonder if it's possible to know the EK2 & EK1 awarding dates for the next two winners of the Ritterkreuz:
Ahrens, Albert; 25.07.1943; Oberfeldwebel; 3./Pz.Jg.Abt. 31 / 31. Inf.Div.
Albert, Wilhelm; 14.02.1945; Hauptmann d.R.; x./Pz.Jg.Abt. 35 / 35. Inf.Div.

Hello Jordi,

I don't have any additional information on these two men, apart from the tracesofwar-entry for Hptm.d.R. Albert:

Hello Antonio,

he was from Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 393, but I don't know the number of his battery to be true, but he could also have been in the Stab or Stabsbatterie of this Brigade.
