Order of Battle - Fall Grun - Notes.

#1

Post by Snoopy » 07 Mar 2005, 23:10

Greetings Troops - :)

Does anyone have an accurate OOB for Fall Grun, 01 Oct. 1938?

So far I’ve been able to come up with most of the Armee commanders and all (except for XV AK) of the Armeekorps commanders for this date but the information I’ve got for the divisional placements is very suspect.

Any help, or leads to threads / websites, would be most greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested I’d be more than happy to share what I’ve come up with, so far, in regards to the commanders.

Best regards -

Snoopy

Greetings "Conacher1941" - :)

Could you give me another 48 hours??

I just received some new information which will assist me in finishing the project, which, so far, is 13 pages in length.

If you don't hear from me by Saturday evening could you send me a PM reminder.

Best regards -

Fall Grun

#6

Post by Snoopy » 11 Mar 2005, 12:07

Greetings troops –

I am presently putting the finishing touches on my “Fall Grun” Order of Battle.

This includes the listings of all major units that took part in the 01 Oct.1938 invasion as well a listing of the Armeekorps Commands and their sup-units (Heeredienststelle- Grenzschutzabschnittskommndo – Kommandeur der Befestigungen – Landwehrkommandeur – Grenzkommandantur – Inspektion der Ostbefestigungen etc etc etc)..

All your help is greatly appreciated and, I promise, that as your information comes to me I will keep up-dating the Order of Battle until all parties are satisfied it’s the best we could possibly do !!

Thanks again for all you help – and keep them letters and postcards coming in !!

I’ll post the completed "Fall Grun – Order of Battle", here at A.H.F, and at Feldgrau.

I know that with your help we can make this the most comprehensive Order of Battle seen in a long time

Best regards.
John

Greeting Troops

O.K. - O.K. !!

Patience is a virtue!!

I finally got my PC up and running (threatened it with a hammer) - now it works like a charm,

So, without further ado................. Back to the salt mines!!

I promised to have this OOB completed for someone by tomorrow night...............AND I AIM TO PLEASE!!!!

Will be contacting you others over the weekend for any assistance you feel you can offer.

The last time we tried one of these "Let's Build" projects, over at Feldrau, it was a smashing success with historical facts and corrections coming in from all over the globe. I hope to make this project as successful.

AS promised I'll have to OOB posted by tomorrow night and then the fun begins.

The way we handled it at Feldgrau was each individual would sent in their suggestions/corrections/additional research, point out my typos, and generally help out in any way they could.

AS each new correction would come in I would edit any mistakes directly onto the posted OOB and make a note of the correction at the bottom of the Order of Battle.

*** I deleted the Operation Typhoon Order of Battle. I found out it takes up just too d*mn much room !!

But, keep your comments coming, either here, or at the "Fall Grun - Order of Battle - Completed" sperate from this thread.

Best regards -

Hi Glynwed!

Strange that there are 2. Lei. Div., 3. Lei. Div. and 4. Pz. Div. listed. All of them were set up in November, 1938 if I recall correctly. Don´t know when they were ready for combat but I doubt they would have been before December, 1938 at the earliest. :|

I just re-type the informations from book. I know that these units (especialy 4.PzD) were not redy for combat use in October 1938, but some units maybe can take actions (the bone of new build units are "experienced" soldiers).

Moreower, many Inf.Rgt. of regular ID have only I. and II.Btl. The III.Btl. was offen build from reservist. But the bone of regular division have very good pre-war training.

Greetings Troops –

Still plugging away at constructing that Fall Grun Order of Battle.

Every time I think I’ve got it finished, along comes some new data and I have to start from scratch again.

Oh well, tis the joy of research!!

After I finish compiling the data supplied from the sources, listed below, I think I’ll have a pretty accurate Case Green Order of Battle.

*SOURCES:
1. Order of Battle taken from information supplied on NAUSMP, vol.78, roll 300 and BA-MA, RH 2/v. 299
2. *Affiliated Wehrkreis / Armeekorps and *Divisional make-up taken from:
“Wehrmacht – Friedensgliederung am 03.01.1939”
3. “Heereseinteilung 1939” – Glierung, Standorte und Kommandeur samtlicher Eiheiten und Dienststellen ds Friedensheeres am 92.91.39 und die Kriegsgliederung vom 01.09-39 – Herausgegebeh von Generalleut a.D.Friedrich Stahl, Podzun-Pallas-Verlag, 6360 Frieberg 3 (Dorheim, Markey 9); ISBN 3-7909-0114-8
4. “Formationsgeschichte Der Wehrmacht 1933-39" by Georg Tessin (Boppard, 1959).
5. “Wehrmacht – Friedensgliederung am 03.01.1939”
Personnel:
6. Axis Biographical Research
7. Feldgrau Officer’s Biographies
8. Notes from “Oberstab“ Dieter Zinke
9. Notes from Dr. Leo Niehorster
10. Notes from “Stauffenberg”
11. Notes from “Glynwed”
12. Notes from others whom I've forgotten at this point.

Hopefully I'll have this thing completed, baring more incoming “suggestions”, by the end of the week.

Then I’ll post it here and EVERYONE can have a go at it!!

I’m sure there will be lots of comments.

Best regards –

Correct Stauffenberg II !!

All three were in the "forming" stages and were not completed until Nov.1938.

Thanks for the reminder thought !
