Hello Christoph,
here another kind of Heer school. Or should we call it a course?
In August 1942 6th Army was lacking infantry officers but had a surplus of more than 200 officer aspirants in artillery and signals units that could not be promoted due to lacking vacancies.
They proposed to the Heer personnel office to retrain about 80 of them as infantry officers by setting up their own school.
This was okayed by Army personnel office around August 25th.
The school was set up in the hinterland of the 6th Army in Suworowski, a village by the Don river south of Nishne Tschirskaja.
School commander was a Hauptmann Göbel from 79th Infantry Division, one of the intructors Oberst Abraham from 76th Infantry Division.
The course began in early October 1942 and was planned to end November 30th.
After the soviet breakthrough the school relocated to Nischne Tschirskaja on November 22nd.
On November 23rd it was transformed into Kampfgruppe Göbel. The instructors became battallion commanders and the officer aspirants were turned into company and platoon commanders. Manpower was provided by scattered elements of numerous units in the area.

This thread has been made "sticky" in exchange with the former sticky "Schulen der Panzertruppe des Heeres".
It will be hopefully a corresponding and working strategy to have a topic on schools in a wider range here (=schools in general, more in depth, details, OOB etc.) and a topic on school personnel in the ABR forum :

Thanks, Bernd

The Soma-archives in Belgium contain photos from the 6th and 27 th Waffen-SS Langemarck, and various on the subject of SS-training in schools and bases.
I have posted several in my series on the Flemish volunteers. Please take a look in the index Foreign volunteers/Flemish SS volunteers photo's (by X).

I've got element of ID tag from SS Schule - SS US - Unterfuhrerchule, which could be located as Unterführerschule Lauenburg if after US was L or R for R Unterführerschule Radolfzell.

Re: Heer and SS schools etc...
[quote="Christoph Awender"]Hello!
For my project about training and tactics of the Wehrmacht and W-SS I want to collect a list with various schools where soldiers, NCo´s and officers were trained.
Any additional informations, corrections to this list is very much appreciated.
