Another ID, in the Westland photo on page 2, the man in the middle is later German Cross in Gold holder Dietrich Ziemssen. He was an adjutant and battalion commander in Westland, then received General Staff training, and became Ia of the 4. SS-Freiwilligen Panzergrenadier Brigade Nederland. Then , for the last 6 months of the war he served as Ia of the 1. SS-PD LSSAH.

What kind of a rifle is that? Is that a standard german field cap he`s wearing?

Cheers,

Isn't this a polish machie gun? I think so, but I'm not sure...

And this is a (offically issued) camouflage field cap...

I think it is probably Czech ZB vz 26 which used 7,92mm ammo(german standard too) .English modified this machine gun for their .303 ammunition and named it Bren Mark 1 Light Machine Gun which is more famous name of this exelent MG .My guess is(as much as guess can be:) that this is nevertheless original Czech ZB vz 26 because of compatibility with german ammo which "Prinz Eugen" used at that time.
Great pictures Ivan!

Here's one more of Phleps, talking to Gen. Lüters.
I believe that's von Oberkamp eating on the right...
