R. Lee Ermey talking about the Renault FT-17 (halfway through the vid) as used by the Pz. Abt. 7

shooting its main gun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz2jvYm_gSU
part 3 has a demonstration of what a 37mm 1930s era AT gun could do against 37mm armor, and then they do the same thing with a 57mm AT gun against 57mm armor.
I taught it was interesting. Its not the most accurate documentary..

Re:
I think I have found some answers on these old questions:
"Two SS battalions attacking in Krivaja-sector (SW of Kladanj) against enemy resistance. Enemy has reinforced the Kladanj bridgehead with strong forces. Our losses: 8 dead, 23 wounded, 3 missing"
NAW, T-311, Roll 173, 001240
Village of Ravno is some 10 km SW of Kladanj.
"Parts of Pz.Jäg.Abt. [of the 7.SS] ambushed in Lepenica Valley: 47 dead, 5 wounded, 1 missing."
NAW, T-311, Roll 173, 001215
"Parts of communist 5. Division retreat before the Division from sector Kresevo-Fojnica-Dusinato the west [...] Losses: 2 dead, 30 wounded, 2 missing."
NAW, T-311, Roll 173, 001208
I've been searching for these answers in order to check the date provided by some partisan memoirs ("Sarajevo u revoluciji", Sarajevo, 1979, Vol. 3, p. 632-5.). This source mentions
action 1) Two captured Germans;
action 2) 84 killed Germans, 4 captured;
action 2) no casaulty figures.
Cheers,
Gaius
Do any of you have information on the...Any casaulty figures?

I taught this was interesting. 1944 Bosnia, towards the end it shows a Flak unit setting up. You can see some SS insignia and M43 style tunics. The higher quality equipment leads me to believe that it has to be a German unit.
The guy sewing his uniform has a Rottenfuhrer rank patch, but I cant see any Gebirgs sleeve patches to make my conclusion.

either way, its a nice insight into what it was like

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Was SS Prinz Eugen entirely German?
I heard that there were some non-German volunteers of Serbian origins from Banat, there were probably some Croats too from Slavonia.

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Hey guys. I´ve been trying to find a confirmation to a rumor that Prinz Eugen division did use captured russian Mosin-Nagant -rifles on Balkans. Anyone ever heard about this? In every photo that I´ve seen about Prinz Eugen troops, everyone seem to have Mauser-rifles, but all LMG´s, HMG´s or tanks are captured weapons from France or Czechoslovakia.
Maybe the rumor is true about germans using the Mosin-Nagants in Balkans, but not among Prinz Eugen? Anyone have information about this?

Brilliant thread everybody, great pics and a lot of info I just ordered 7.SS Gebirgs Division im Bild and ' Totenkopf & Edelweiss ' by Kaltenegger ( authour of Mountain Troops of the Waffen-SS ) and " Himmlers Bosnian Division ( Handschar) by Lepre, does anybody have these books, reviews are excellent, just finished reading ' Vorwarts Prinz Eugen ! by Otto Kumm .
I liked this book very much but it didn't have enough photos so i guess thats where the book i ordered comes as a companion with a lot of good pics !
