And what abouth Begleit-Kompanie “RFSS“. It have to be a part of KG Mohnke in April/May 1945. That was an Waffen-SS unit attached to SS-Hauptamt (at Prinz Albert Strasse 8)?

I would like to correct and add some information to this thread. I initially gave information that the Begleit-Btl. Steiermark had been directed to Berlin for the final battle, but the order was changed. I erred in not reading Trevor-Roper completely. Fegelein was supposed to meet with Himmler and Gephardt to assume command of the Bglt Btl and take it to Berlin on April 23, 1945. I thought that by later comments that the btl. was "undiminished", T-R meant that the Btl. did not go to Berlin. But on p.133, he comments that because Fegelein was late for the 23/4 meeting, Himmler sent 1/2 of the Btl. to Berlin under the command of SS OSBF Persch.

The additional information about the Begleit-Btl. Heinrich, leads me to believe that Himmler's escort batallion assumed the name of his transport train. This is because the FP Nr. never changed, as indicated in Kannapin's FP listings. Nr. 35360 is listed from 30.7.41-28.2.42 as the Begleit Kdo.Henrich. According to Hoffmann, Heinrich was the name of Himmler's Sonderzug. The name changed to Steiermark, as did the Beglet Btl. name.

The DRK lists "Pol. u. Gendarmerie in Biesenthal b. Berlin mit Pol. Btl. "Grube."
No FPN
It looks like they took casulties in Biesenthal in March and Berlin in April

Officers listed as missing: Heinrich Framke, Lt. Pol. Last seen in Bernau in 4/45
Willi Teichert, Lt. Pol. Biesenthal 4/45

Good day Gentlemen*s !
I want to return the 1941 and have a such question. In Russian veterans memories I read about mysterious SS unit which operated with a units of 250 Inf Div (Spanish) on Volchov-front (barracks Muravyi not far from the Nikitkino-Dubrovka) after the 18.10.41.. I have a version that it may be RFSS-begleit battalion. This unit was in anti partisan operations in Radofinnikovo and after that was moved to the Volchov. May be anybody have an information about this?

Regards

Alex

I found official documentation with the date renaming Sonderkommando "Heinrich" to Polizei-Begleitbataillon "Steiermark"

"Auf Befehl Reichsführer-SS führt das bisherige Sonderkommando "Heinrich" seit 1.2.1943 die Bezeichnung "Polizei-Begleitbataillon Steiermark". Sonstige Veränderungen hinsichtlich Einsatz, Versorgung, Feldpostnummer usw. sind damit nicht verbunden".

Ref.: Der Chef der Kommandoamtes, Berlin, den 23. Februar 1943; Amtsbefehl Nr. 14.

Whatever the genesis, there was a RF-SS Bgl. Btl. that fought on the west front, in the 19th Army area:
