Komshija,

would you consider adding Kammerhofer`s German-Croatian police regiments?

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... highlight=
Other German Police groundforces that served in "Yugoslavia" were:
- SS Police Regiment 5 (formed in Belgrade, Serbia on July 9, 1942); this regiment had a large number of ethnic German Serbs. It served in Serbia from 1942-1944 and in Croatia from late 1944-1945.
- SS Police Regiment 6 served for a short period of time near Vinkovci, Croatia in November 1944.
- After the destruction of the original SS Police Regiment 9 in January 1945, the "new" regiment was formed in northern Slovenia from SS Police Regiment "Alpenvorland". It appears the regiment had only one battalion by wars end.
- SS Police Regiment 10 served in Slovenia from August 1944 fighting Partizans.
- SS Police Regiment 13 served in central Slovenia from August 1944 - March 1945.
- SS Police Regiment 14 served in Croatia (Karlovac-Ogulin area) from September 1943 - early 1944, and in Slovenia from early 1944 - March 1945.
- SS Police Regiment 19 was formed in Slovenia in July 1942 and served there until June 1944.
- One battalion of the SS Police Regiment 24 (the 3rd) aparently served in Slovenia in early 1943.
- SS Police Regiment 25 served in Slovenia from August 1944 - March 1945.
- SS Police Regiment 28 "Todt" served in Slovenia from February 1944.

Best regards,
Allen/
Cheers,

Gaius

The III./Germania, from 5. SS-Panzer Division Wiking, operated against Titoist partisans during the summer of 1943. I believe their service was in Istria. Checking in the Panzergrenadiere der Panzer Division Wiking im Bild, it states in a photo caption that the service took place in "Kamonica-Zdonac." Is that Istria, or Yugoslavia proper?

Hi Marc:

Could that caption perhaps read "Kamenica-Zdenac"? If so, the area is in Croatia proper; the village of Zdenac is due east of Ogulin (approximately 10-12 km), while Kamenica is approximately 20 km south-west of Zdenac towards Senj.

Hi Allen, that could well be what they meant, but it isn't what's written in the book :)

Hi Marc:

You responded before I could update my post with further info  (see above)

I would venture a guess that it is an error in the book - 'kamen' in the Croatian language is "stone or rock", while 'zdenac' is a "well". Spelled with "o" instead of "e" makes the names meaningless.

Gaius, Allen, Marc, Mark, Christoph and Serbian-boy
- thanks a lot! :)

My father remembers in his memoirs "Germania" in Yugoslavia as well.
Marc, is it too much to ask of you to post that photo of "Germania" (Kamenica-Zdenac)?

Can anyone confirm presence of two Latvian and Estonian SS division in YU?

Cheers,
Ivan

I should perhaps add this as well:
Waffen-Grenadier-Regiment der SS (bulgarisches Nr.1) (XI 1944, Vardar)
Polizei-Bataillon "Ostland" (SS unit, or not?) ...any info & confirmation of it's presence in Bosnia 1943/44

On the first map posted by Christoph there's an
Muselmanische SS-Freiwilligen-Legion mentioned (next to 1.Geb.Div.).
What is that?!

Some sources claim that Osttürkischer Waffen-Verband der SS fought in Slovenia in April 1945.
Also (in Slovenia):
SS-Freiwilligen-Regiment "Varjag"
Kampfgruppe "Dippelhofer"
(Dr. Otto Dippelhofer, SS-Sturmbannführer)
- this KG also included men from SS u. W-Unterführerschule Laibach.

"SS-Freiwilligen-Regiment "Warjag" was created in March of 1942 in Belgrade as SS-Freiwilligen Battalion "Warjag" from Russian volunteers..."

Is this true?
