Hello to all!

I really need detailed information about battle near village called Iljinskoje on October 12, 1941.
The battle called "Durchbruch durch die Moskau-schutzstellung".

I found some information in the book by R.Hinze "Die 19. Panzer-Division" but it's not enough for me.

I live near by this place and any information will help me better to know about this battle.

Best regards,
Igor.

Hello to all :D; a little more about this Division...................

19 Pz in Russia.

11. On the Dryssa - 13 of July of 1941.

The rupture of the line of Stalin, resulted in the adoption of new measures. Resistant fortifications and well organized defensive positions in the field had to be silenced by the regiment (SR 74) on July 13 of 1941. After leaving Borkowitschi as the capital of the defensive battles around the bridgehead of Dzisna, it was resumed the attack against the Dryssa River. This attack turned out to be a supreme profit for the regiment, which obtained a greater recognition and praise on behalf of its higher commands.

The zone of action for the attack limited to the right with the 86 ID of the XXIII AK and to the left with the 14 ID (Mot). The march continued through a dense forest of about 10 kilometers of depth to the Dryssa River, whose bridge already had been flown. The water obstacle (Dryssa River) was reached and crossed on July 13 of 1941.

12. Towards Dretun.

On July 14 of 1941, in the morning the 19 Pz was moving towards Dretun with its SR 73 in the lead, along the route Dretun - Litwino - Schemiaty - Newel.

The II. /SR 74 was directed to protect the flank the division and had to reject several massive attacks of the encircled up Russian troops in Poloszk whom seemingly looked for to open its way to the east. Nevertheless, this enemy intentions had been frustrated by the heroic fight of the soldiers of the battalion. In these fights, a Russian armored train was destroyed.

19 Pz in Russia.

13. Advance on Newel.

The advance continued towards Newel during the night from 15 to 16 of July of 1941. The armored regiment (PR 27) of the division had been detached as vanguard and it was sent towards the city. The SR 74 arrived that same day (16 of July) at Newel with one of its battalions (the II. Battalion) and attacked due south of the city towards the lake of Kassenkowo, a town which would be familiar for the regiment.

In front of Schemiaty, the vanguard hit against well entrenched enemy troops.

14. To Welikije Luki. First advance..

On July 18 of 1941, the objective of the division was Welikije-Luki. Here, also, the SR 74 was deployed with a battalion in order to block the attempts of the enemy to break towards the south. The I. Battalion carried out its mission with success. The II.Batallón meanwhile had the task of assuring the route of march of the division and had to repulse strong Russian attacks on the road during the following days, being undergone some critics situations, but fulfilling its task successfully.

Bjeloi.

The regiment (SR 74) stayed there since Jul 27 of 1941 having the task of maintaining the encirclement of the Russian forces around Bjeloi and of avoiding an attempt of break through towards the south. Daily powerful attacks of the Russian troops followed one after another, most of the time being supported by isolated tanks.

In these fights fell the Commander of the Regiment, Oberstleutnant Iwan, due to an aerial attack. The command was assumed by Major Westermann who left the II. Battalion as well to Hauptmann Amman, till then commander of the 3. Company

Bjeloi.

The SR 74 held successfully its defensive positions in the neighborhood of Bjeloi until August 08 of 1941, rejecting several and intense attempts of breakthrough on the part of the Soviets supported by artillery, tanks and ground-attack aviation.

At that time it was relieved by an infantry regiment and then moved out to the rear where it could rest and be reorganized during 10 days. During this time, the weapons and the vehicles were completely renewed/repaired.
