That question I can not answer. I don't know. I was very lucky I got the thing at all. My mother told me he wanted to be buried in it / with it.

About 10 years ago I went to a Gun Show in Sydney, one Dealer ( an American )dealing in German WW2 Stuff offerd me 2,500.00 dollars for it.

Found some more stuff regarding my " Old Man ".

The photo shows him after he recoverd from his wounds ( Sicily ). It also shows the Wounded Badge and EK 2nd class Ribbon.

The Document is a request ( written by his father ) to get a transfer to the Luftwaffe. It also gives some dates re his service and places he was up till than.

HI, I'm sorry for my bad english language. I'm sicilian , and I write for the battle in Gela.
The Italian historians and sicialian have demonstrated that the news of the journalist of photo "TANK BATTLE" it is not exact. This picture is make from the roof of a room in Gela, near the zone “mulino Maione” . Is 10 july and no 11July.
In this photography not there are tanks HG, but the tanks that are looked at are the Italian tanks of Gruppo Mobile “E” .
Against these Italian tanks, the marine naval usa to make fire 572 blows, (Morrison)
In this picture they are 12 italian tanks.
The armor of these Italian tanks was not resistant.
The division Göring the 10 july in the zone of Ponte Olivo- priolo- Ponte Dirillo, fights against strong armored columns and parachutists that they stop fot v10 and 11 July that it and they do not allow she to counterattack the Americans to Gela with to Heroic Italian division Livorno.
This is the truth

I am in the preliminary process of developing a documntary on action between the 82nd Airborne and elements of the HG Division on Sept. 10th -18th 1943 near Agerola Italy. Also, any information on action between these two units in Sicily would be appreciated. Does anyone have contacts in Germany with any Veterans groups of the HG Division? Thank you in advance.
