Hi,

Here is a small bit of information I have gathered about this unit for a planned book about pioneer battalions.

Michel, Oblt. Alfons - Pi.Btl.751 - German Cross in Gold on 10.10.1943.

Officers of Pi.Btl.751 who were killed or missing (this list is incomplete):
Baron, Lt.d.R. Paul, born 26.11.1909, killed 04.10.1943 Iwanischtschewitschi
Foucar, Lt.d.R Kurt, born 27.04.1909, killed 18.11.1941 Upodsky-Swawad
Frenkel, Hptm.d.R. Wilhelm, born 24.05.1915, killed 04.07.1944
Hölling, Hptm.d.R. Wilhelm, born 16.10.1890, killed 05.03.1942 Slobodka
Hupe, Hptm.d.R. Karl, born 21.12.1913, killed 12.10.1943 Bowka
Nierhoff, Oblt.d.R. Rudolf, born 04.06.1916, missing 02.07.1944 near Beresino

Also the following from Lexikon der Wehrmacht (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... Bat751.htm):
Pionier-Bataillon 751

Feldpostnummern:
(Einheit - Feldpostnummer Nummer - ab Okt/44)
Stab - 36296 - 48770
1. Kompanie - 36324 - 26655
2. Kompanie - 37195 - 22043
3. Kompanie - 38634 - 31894
Kolonne - 44526 - gestr. Feb/44

Armee in Ungarn.

Die Ersatzgestellung kam vom Pionier-Ersatz-Bataillon 26 in Höxter, Wehrkreis VI. Ab 1944 war der Wehrkreis IV für diese Aufgabe zuständig.
Also from the Internet, this time Jason Long's excellent article called "Independent Pioniere-Truppen"
(http://orbat.com/site/sturmvogel/pioniere.html):
Pionier-Bataillon z.b.V 751
Pionier-Bataillon 751 (besp.) (1941)
11 Oct 39 formed in WK VI as "Minier-Bataillon"
10 May 40 Army Group C
22 Jun 41 XLIII Corps, Fourth Army, Army Group Center
5 Oct 41 XIII Corps, 4th Panzer Group, Army Group Center as besp.
24 Dec 41 4th Army, Army Group Center
[Newton: 5 Jul 43 9th Army, Army Group Center]
Jun 44 destroyed with Army Group Center
29 Aug 44 disbanded
Not much I'm afraid, but hope it helps.

Best wishes,
Jason

Hallo jmark,

thanks for your hints - finally, I have some information from WASt.

The friends relative was killed at 4th October 1943 at Krasnaya Polyana town and his grave is at Iwanischtschewitschi. The friend have a photo of Btataillon Graveyard and I was able to recognize grave of Leutnant Paul Baron you mentioned. Don ´tyou know what happen around Krasnaya Polyana and Iwanischtschewitschi at Octiber 1943. If you still preparing the book abouth Pionier, maybe some photos from my friend will be handly for you?

Hello together,
does anyone know the name Ropers, Major and Kommander of Pi. Btl./751?
I found the name on a certificate, Winterschlacht im Osten, from 22.07.1942
There is another Ropers in the list from DKiG book on page 385, he got the DKiG on 23.01.1942 (early award) in 1. Pi./58.
Is it possible, that the two soldiers are the same person?
Kind regards parulis
Searching for information of Oberst Helmuth von Lilienhoff - Zwowitzki GR 439
