#1

Post by Bill Medland » 27 Oct 2002, 19:07

Hi Forum,
Here are some original photos taken at Kursk 1943. They were taken by my wifes uncle who served in a Wehrmacht unit attached to the LSSAH.
If there is an interest in the photos,I will add more from my collection.
Enjoy,Regards,Bill.

Nice pictures Bill!!! I noticed the "kill" markings on the side of the vehicle--I don't think I've ever seen that on this type of AFV. Thanks for sharing. Best Regards, David :D

Very nice pictures! Please add more!

Also, do you know what unit it was (I'm guessing GD)

As an afterthought, did you notice that the vehicles travelled on the flatbed trucks with the Launchers removed?

Thanks Timo - but this would then mean, that Wehrmacht vehicles were under W-SS command, right?

Are you sure the first photo does not depict one of the SWS armored ammo carriers from the unit?

BTW: I suppose only the first photo is taken during unloading prior to the Kursk (summer) offensive. The other two (whitewash, furr hats) are probabely taken during the 1943/44 winter.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi Bill, nice pictures-I'd love to see more. I didn't know that these vehicles had MG34 mounts and the placing of the license plates is also interesting.

best regards/ daniel

Timo suggests that the top photo is a SWS, this is not the case.
Look at the wheels with the two springs in front of the wheels, then look at a pic of a SWS wheel assembly. :D
Regards,Bill.

Still, I think it could very well be an armored ammo carrier.

BTW: is Werfer-Regiment 55 correct?
