Recommended reading on the foreign vol. & collaboration

This is in no way a recommendation but rather an offer to anyone without French. i have translated 'Leon Degrelle et l'Avenir de'Rex'' (1936) into English for myself and would be only too glad to attempt (my computer skills are not the greatest) to forward the text to any Axis member who is interested in this area of research. It is available on Amazon too but I did not realise that pieces cannot be offered there free to the reader, hence this post. I also have Degrelle's short 'Qu'est-ce que Rex? - Lettre aux Francais' (1936) in English for anyone interested. At some time in the future 'Etat d'Ame' (1938) will be finished.

I have written a book on German-Croatian collaboration by my family, published by Carl Auer in 2015: Uberleben Durch Vergessen; Die Judische Geliebte, der Retter von der Gestapo und die Klein Zeugin.- a unique story, according to the Wiesenthal Centre in Jerusalem. I have many favourable reviews of the book from German newspapers and journals.

I wrote it in English but the subject makes is difficult for me to find a reputable English publisher. It is on Amazon in German,

Hello,

Since it also deals in deep with foreign collaboration, in particular the one regarding italian citizens of ethnic italian, croatian and slovenian descent recruited in the SS (SS-Wachmannschaften of the OZAK) I've thought the readers here would be eventually interested in our new book "Globocnik’s Men in Italy, 1943-45" published by Schiffer this year.
It also contains a lot of unpublished pictures, which in some cases show the use of two newly discovered foreign SS sleeve shields (italian and slovenian versions)

3. What do you think about Rolf Dieter Muller´s book The unknown eastern front? Does it have many photos?

In my opinion the best monography about SS-Sdr.Kmd. Dirlewanger is book of Russian historian Zhukov & Kovtun, Hunters for partisan. Dirlewanger Brigade
(unfortunately only in Russian: Дмитрий Жуков, Иван Ковтун Охотники за партизанами. Бригада Дирлевангера, 2013). They desribed in details all Bandenbekamfung operation in Central Russia and Byelorussia, They are historical masters!

Just finished reading the excellent "The Enemy of my Enemy is also my Friend: The Indian Legion & The Waffen-SS by Avtar Singh" about the formation of the Indian Legion in Germany in 1942 and their actions in Holland, France and the retreat back into Germany in 1944.

A very well written book and good explanation as to why situations and issues happened within the legion.

I managed to buy the first edition when it came out last year but only just finished reading it a few weeks ago during a short holiday.

The book is only 150 pages but well condensed and touch's only on the key people, key events and legion.

A second book seems to be coming out soon called "Until the Bitter End" by the same author as per the email update from the publisher in which he now suggests there was never any plan by the German's to actually send the Indian's to India to invade India in 1943 and to remove the British but they were merely formed for political reasons and to address the serious manpower shortages on the Eastern Front.

The general belief has always been the German's had planned to send this force to India but it seems this is/was not true at all.

Waiting for more news on the new book and when it will be released.

For the really first time in english language, the most complete and precise biographical study about the French in German uniform (1941-1945). In this book of more than 340 pages, including some 240 photographs (a lot unpublished), the biography of the 176 French officers who served in the ranks of the Waffen-SS (sorted by unit : Sturmbrigade Frankreich / LVF / Milice Française / Kriegsmarine), and the German officers (and Swiss) who served on their side.

Has anybody read the book “The Mountain Troops of the Waffen-SS 1941-1945” by Roland Kaltenegger? Would you recommend it to someone who has a based knowledge on this topic? And what about the pictures in the book?

It's a nice little guide to the mountain troops of the Waffen-SS. Nothing spectacular though! Just basic info. The photos are excellent. (Kaltenegger is a great fan of mountain troops, search for his other books too.)
