SS-Obersturmführer Paul Suys was also a member of this division. But I don't know what his function was.

Re: 28.SS-Freiw.Gren.Div."Wallonien" (wallon.Nr.1)
I only have him as SS-Ustuf and probably he got promoted to SS-Ostuf but no indication that he was SS-Hstuf.SS Hauptsturmführer Henri THYSSEN (KIA)

Hello
Henri Thyssen was normally promoted (traditonal day on April 20th 1945), the very day of his death.

Hello,
With regard to
Kommandeur: 00.10.1944-28.01.1945 SS-Oberf.Nikolaus Heilmann
Kommandeur: 00.01.1945-00.04.1945 SS-Staf.Léon Dégrelle
This is incorrect as Heilmann was never promoted Kommandeur of the 28. (his function was Führer der Aufstellungsstabes, and nothing else. More, he even left his job to Franz Hellebaut.
Degrelle was appointed Kommandeur in September 1944.

Hello Eddy,
Thanks for all this extra info, it was interesting to read.
Especially the fact that Pierre de Backer de Réville joined the 28. Waffen-Division in April 1945 and that after his imprisonment........
But I'm still hoping someone can tell me his DoB and DoD.
Greetings,
Mike

So he was immediately promoted to SS-Untersturmführer when he joined the Waffen-SS in April of 1945? I know that these former Belgian army officers looked for shelter in the ranks of the SS-Freiw.Gren.Div.Langemarck and Wallonien, but I didn't know some acctually joined the Waffen-SS.narwa44 wrote:Hello,

Hello,
Belgian officers (active and reserve) were accepted in the Waffen-SS with the rank they held in the Belgian army without any difficulity. Previously, this had been the case with Hellebaut, Lakaie, Tchekhoff (naturalized Belgian), Van Damme, Thys, Lippert, Calonne, and many others without attending any SS Academy. They were called "ohne Patent angelegt".

Eddy De Bruyne

Very interesting, you don't know if there where also any Belgian army officers from Prenzlau who joined the SS-Freiw.Gren.Div.Langemarck?
But the SS-Personalakte of a participant of the 2. Lehrgang für germanische Offiziere also says 'ohne Patent angelegt' ...
