Hi,

I believe it is Captain-Lieutenant (later Captain) Mārtiņš Baumanis, who was Latvian (as was the 279. Btl.). The pre-war Latvian Army had the rank of Captain-Lieutenant, between 1st Lieutenant and Captain.
