Hi!

Found another deutch soldier within the 10./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 23 "NORGE".

In a story written by a norwegian he mentioned a deutch volunteer names Jan H. He was 18-19 year of age and had shot himself (Selbstverstümmelung) in october 1944. He went through court martial and was sentenced to death. On 5.1.45 the 10 and 5. company of SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 23 "NORGE" marched to Paplaki to witness the execution. In 5 company an elderly rumanian was to be shot together with Jan H. The leader of the execution squad was SS-Hstuf and Regimental adjutant Walter Körner. Both men was shot from firing squads from 5 and 10 company.

Is it possible to identify this deutch soldier, I have no other clue unfortunately?

Excellent post, here's some additional info about two of the by you mentioned Dutchmen.

Fritz van Bommel. He was a Gruppenführer in the 3. Kompanie/SS-Aufkl.-Abt. 11.
KIA in 1944 in the Oranienbaum Pocket.
Jan Hommes. He received the Ostmedaille and the 1939 EK II.
KIA on 4-2-1944 at the Eastern Front.

And who can tell me something more about SS-Ustuf Rudolf Altenpohl, don't find him in my files??!!
