Old thread , but I have just finished the story about Werner Blessau, he was at "Dirlewanger" just for a short period in 1943, he came back to SS-Hauptamt and was promoted to SS-Hstuf for heroic action while he was with "Dirlewanger". He was after that service also awarded the Verwundetabz. im Silver.

Thanks for the mention - I spend the first two chapters discussing the origins of the unit and the brigade structure it had when it went into battle at Ipolysag/Sahy in December 1944.

Great book, like all the others. Wish you would have included more details after Dirlewanger had left the unit.
